A team of rescue dog handlers from Bavaria (Munich, Kitzingen and Ansbach) and Hamburg took place at the BTC (Basic Training Course) of the German Red Cross last weekend from thursday 28th of june until 1st of july: "First Aid, Security and Safety in the Field"
I want to thank the Team from the German Red Cross for the great organisation of the whole event and the very professional training exercices in theorie and practice. The concept to have theoretical background and small specialized trainings together with a complex scenario was a good idea and prepared the participants in a very good way on international missions for the Red Cross Movement. Next to the members of German Red Cross there were several other participants from other Red Cross societies in Europe and none Red Cross members as well.

As a short excerpt we learned how to handle satelite phones, GPS, how to put fire out and how to deal with first aid in missions. One of the most amazing trainings of course has been the driving of the Toyota Land Cruisers at the Military Training Area of Lehnin, you will find some pictures in our gallery. Finally on sunday we could use what we learned the days before in driving a convoy through a military checkpoint to bring food and medicine into a city.

So thanks for this weekend and maybe we can see us in any mission again.
Best Regards Markus Wilhelm
